Atlanta Lyric Theatre's production of "Rent" wraps up with a matinee performance at the Strand, topping today's The 5 Things.

1. The Atlanta Lyric Theatre concludes its production of Rent today with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. at the .  The musical, loosely based on Puccini’s La Boheme, follows a year in the lives artists and musicians struggling to survive in New York’s Lower East Side.

2. And while one production closes, another one is in previews. Mount Pleasant Homecoming has a preview performance at 7 p.m. today on the main stage at . 3. If you were hoping to visit the IPMS Metro Atlanta's annual Hobby Show at the this year, we are sorry to say that it has been cancelled. According to the group's Web site, they simply could not get enough vendors.

5. Today is Log Cabin Day. Virginia Handy and the Bad Axe Historical Society based in Michigan created the first Log Cabin Day on June 25, 1986. Their objectives: Preserve log cabins and boost awareness of when life in America was a lot more rugged.
