Lots of Cobb County Roadwork This Weekend

Check out this schedule and make your travel plans accordingly.

Several Cobb County roads and highways will be impacted this weekend due to DOT roadwork.

  • On I-285, traffic traveling on the eastbound collector-distributer lane to I-75 northbound will be directed to take the I-75 southbound exit ramp (Exit 20) to Cumberland Boulevard. Traffic will then be directed to turn left on Cumberland Boulevard followed by another left to then enter I-75 Northbound via the ramp from Cumberland Boulevard. The I-75 southbound ramp to I-285 eastbound Collector Lanes (Exit-259A) will also be closed, and traffic will need to take the primary ramp (Exit-259) to access I-285 eastbound from I-75 southbound. The detour will take place nightly from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Sunday.
  • On I-575, one northbound lane will close between SR 92/Alabama Road and Ridgewalk Parkway from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Sunday.
  • On I-75, two southbound lanes will close between SR 280/Delk Road and Windy Hill Road from 9 p.m., Sunday until 5 a.m., Monday.
  • A traffic pace will take place on all southbound lanes between SR 120 Loop/South Marietta Parkway and Windy Hill Road from 9 p.m., Sunday until 5 a.m., Monday. The traffic pace will require motorists to drive 5 mph -10 mph to allow contractors to work across the interstate lanes.
  • The I-75 southbound ramp to Delk Road will close and a detour will be in place. The detour begins at the Delk Road/I-75 intersection. Traffic heading I-75 Southbound will be directed to take the I-75 Northbound ramp to travel northbound to South Marietta Parkway (Exit 263) and keep left to take the 120 Westbound loop (Marietta/KSU Marietta) onto South Marietta Parkway. Traffic will then be directed to turn left to enter I-75 Southbound via the ramp from South Marietta Parkway. The detour will take place from 9 p.m., Sunday until 5 a.m., Monday. (see attached map).

I-75

  • Two northbound lanes will close between SR 280/Delk Road and SR 120 Loop/ South Marietta Parkway from 7 p.m., Sunday until 5 a.m., Monday.
  • Rolling closures will take place on the northbound and southbound lanes between SR 138 and Cumberland Boulevard. The closures will take place from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Sunday to allow crews to install road pavement markers (RPM). Installing RPMs on the interstate is a slow moving operation; therefore, Georgia DOT contractors will subsequently slow down traffic traveling on I-75 to complete their work. Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at a time and slow down while driving through the work zone.
