Mableton Man Charged In Fatal Austell Fire
Two women and multiple animals were found dead in the Janet Lane home.
AUSTELL, GA — A Mableton man is in jail after two bodies were found in a burning Janet Lane home on March 12, according to the Cobb County Police Department Wednesday.
Officers and firefighters responded around 5:30 a.m. to the 5500 block, where they found the bodies of 74-year-old Michele LaCroix and 52-year-old Andrea Nall, both of Austell, police said. The two women were taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital, where they died from their injuries, police said.
Multiple animals were found dead in the home, and Cobb County Animal Control took possession of the animals, police said.

Robert Colt Smith, 30, was arrested in connection with the case. He is being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond, police said. His charges are unknown.
The Cobb County Police Department Major Crimes Unit, the Cobb County Fire Department Arson Unit and the ATF Arson Unit investigated the case.
