Mableton Special Election: What To Know For Early Voting

The final day to register to vote in the Mableton city election is Tuesday, Feb. 21.

MABLETON, GA — Early voting is approaching as residents in Mableton are gearing up for the city's first special election.

The March 21 special election comes after residents voted to make Mableton an incorporated city in the November 2022 general election. Mableton has 24 months to make the transition into its new cityhood.

Three council members will serve until December 2025 while the remaining three will serve until December 2027. Following the inaugural city council, coucilmembers will serve four-year terms.

The final day to register to vote is Tuesday, Feb. 21, Cobb County officials said.

Early voting will start on Feb. 27 at the Mable House Arts Center, 5239 Floyd Road SW, and the South Cobb Community Center, 620 Lions Club Drive.

Advance voting is available as follows: 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Feb. 27-March 3; 9 a.m.-5 p.m., March 4; 7 a.m.-7 p.m., March 6-10; 9 a.m.-5 p.m., March 11; and 7 a.m.-7 p.m., March 13-17.

Voting will not occur on March 5, March 12 or March 18-20, officials said.

Drop boxes are located inside the voting locations and will be open only during voting hours.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is March 10. Absentee ballots can be hand-delivered to the Main Elections Office during office hours until 7 p.m., March 21.

The following forms of identification will be accepted to vote, per the elections office:

  • A Georgia driver’s license which was properly issued by the appropriate state agency;
  • A valid identification card issued by a branch, department, agency, or entity of the State of Georgia, any other state, or the United States authorized by law to issue personal identification, provided that such identification card contains a photograph of the elector; *See below
  • A valid United States passport;
  • A valid employee identification card containing a photograph of the elector and issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the United States government, this state, or any county, municipality, board, authority, or other entity of this state;
  • A valid United States military identification card, provided that such identification card contains a photograph of the elector; or
  • A valid tribal identification card containing a photograph of the elector.
