Man Run Over, Killed By Tractor At Rail Yard
Cobb County Police say the tractor's driver was trying to park between two other tractors when he struck the man early Thursday.

AUSTELL, GA — Cobb County Police are investigating the death of a man they say was run over Thursday by a tractor at the Norfolk Southern Rail Yard in Austell.
The incident happened at about 12:17 a.m. Thursday at the rail yard at 6000 Dr. Luke Glenn Garrett Jr. Memorial Dr., police said.
According to investigators, a driver was trying to pull into a parking space between two other tractors when the rear of the tractor struck Jesse Maxwell, 31, of Dallas. Witnesses shouted to get the driver's attention and he stopped with part of the tractor still over Maxwell's chest and abdomen, police said.

Maxwell was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the tractor, Lavoyd Pete, 58, of Hiram, was not injured, police said.
Police say the incident is still under investigation, but that they don't anticipate any criminal charges being filed.
