Man Who Sexually Assaulted Pre-Teen Sentenced

Terrence James Griffin was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday morning.

MARIETTA, GA -- A man who sexually assaulted a Marietta girl was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Thursday morning.

Terrance James Griffin, 22, pled guilty to two counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of aggravated sodomy, and three counts of child molestation.

The Cobb County DA’s office said Griffin was a friend of the victim’s family, and the victim referred to him as her uncle. The abuse occurred over several months in 2014 at the girl’s home in Marietta when Griffin was staying there. He repeatedly entered her bedroom at night while she was sleeping and perpetrated the acts against her.

“While the state is hopeful that this resolution will bring some closure to the victim and her family, no amount of time or therapy will ever erase the abuse this child suffered at the hands of this once trusted close family friend,” said ADA Susan Treadaway.

Cobb Superior Court Judge Reuben M. Green also sentenced Griffin to 10 years on probation.
