Man Wrote More than $587K In Business Checks To Himself: Report

Joshua Knight deposited 130 checks from a Marietta background check company into his personal bank account but is not yet in custody.

MARIETTA, GA — A Kennesaw man is being accused of writing more than $500,000 worth of checks to himself from a Marietta company that specializes in background checks, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported on Friday.

Joshua A. Knight worked as an account supervisor for Infomart and, according to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department, deposited $587,826.10 in Infomart business checks into his personal Bank of America account, the paper reported. According to Knight’s arrest warrant, he deposited 130 checks from the business.

The Sheriff’s Department indicates Knight wrote himself dozens of checks between January 2018 and September 2019.

The newspaper reported that Knight was charged earlier this week with one count of theft by conversion greater than $1,500. As of Friday, Knight was not in police custody. According to his warrant, Knight’s bond is expected to be set at $500,000.
