Marietta City Schools Improve On State CCRPI Scores

Six of 11 of the district's schools showed gains on the 2017 College and Career Ready Performance Index results.

MARIETTA, GA — Schools in the Marietta City Schools district outperformed the state average on the Georgia College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), based on data released this week by the Georgia Department of Education, the district announced. CCRPI is the state’s education accountability system that measures schools and districts, helping educators and parents understand how schools are performing.

“We embrace the results of the CCRPI and look forward to analyzing the data with our teachers, school leaders, families and Board of Education," said Grant Rivera, superintendent of Marietta City Schools, in a statement. "I appreciate the continued commitment of all our educators to support the success of children each and every day."

The Marietta City School (MCS) System scored 76.4 on the 2017 CCRPI, an increase of 1.1 points from the district’s 2016 score of 75.3, with seven of Marietta’s 11 schools scoring above the state average: Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (104.7), West Side Elementary (89.9), Sawyer Road Elementary (82.0), Marietta High (78.4), Park Street Elementary (74.8), Hickory Hills Elementary (74.3) and Burruss Elementary (73.3).

Six schools demonstrated an increase in CCRPI scores from 2016 to 2017, with four schools showing significant gains:

  • Park Street Elementary - 10.2 points
  • Hickory Hills Elementary - 8.2 points
  • Sawyer Road Elementary - 6.4 points
  • Marietta High – 4.9 points

Four MCS schools scored above 75.0, making them the highest scoring schools in the district: MCAA (104.7), West Side Elementary (89.9), Sawyer Road Elementary (82) and Marietta High (78.4).

Nine of Marietta City’s 11 schools increased their climate rating or stayed the same. Five schools received a five-star climate rating: A.L. Burruss, Hickory Hills, Park Street, Sawyer Road and Marietta Sixth Grade Academy. The school climate star rating is determined by a combination of criteria that includes discipline, attendance, survey data and safe learning environment.
