Marietta Graduate in the Spotlight: Parks Brown
Marietta Patch is featuring a dozen recent Marietta High School graduates this week. Join us in congratulating them on their accomplishments and for their graduation from high school on Saturday.
Accomplishments: A full candidate for the International Baccalaureate diploma. Captain of the varsity golf team for three years, which included a fourth place finish in the regions. Member of the Beta Club for maintaining a 3.5 grade point average or better during his junior and senior years.
Best Memory of High School: Earning a Senior Superlative as Wittiest in the Class of 2011. (Parks loves anything on Saturday Night Live or with Will Ferrell.)
Post-graduation plans: Attending Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., to study business management with a minor in psychology

Final thoughts about Marietta High and the Class of 2011: The faculty and staff “really care about the students, and they hold you to the academics.” He praises the entire Marietta community for creating an amazing sports community and for always showing up at the games, particularly football. As for his classmates, Parks says: “It’s a tight-knit community. You know everybody, and everybody loves each other for what they are.”
