Marietta High Earns Bronze in U.S. News Schools Report

Marietta High's designation as one of the best high schools in the nations tops The 5 Things for today.

1. U.S. News & World Report named one of the nation's top high schools based on how effectively the school prepares students for college and its participation in advanced placement, International Baccalaureate and other college-level tests. Marietta High earned a bronze medal in the annual ranking and was one of only 29 Georgia schools cited.

2.  Three members of the Life University Running Eagles rugby squad recently were named among 40 collegiate All-Americans by USA Rugby with another four named honorable mentions. 

Cam Dolan, Garrett Lambert and Kyle Grossheider were selected 2011 Collegiate All-Americans. This recognition is a repeat for Dolan and Grossheider who both earned All-American status in previous seasons. honorable mentions include Scott MacDonald, Paul Bester, Joe Cowley and Colton Cariaga.

According to USA Rugby, 30 All-Americans will be selected to the All-American Touring Side. The Touring Side will play a three-match series with the New Zealand Universities this summer and will train at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif, to prepare for the series.
