Marietta Man In Wheelchair Struck By Truck And Killed: Police

MARIETTA, GA – A 62-year-old Marietta man in a wheelchair was struck and killed early Tuesday morning when he was hit by a pick-up truck, Cobb County Police said.

Eddie Jones was killed when he was struck from behind while he was in Austell Road about 3 a.m., police said. Jones was not in the crosswalk of the road when he was hit by a 2004 Toyota Tundra.

Jones was knocked out of the wheelchair after being hit and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not charged in the accident and was not injured, Jones’ wheelchair was located in a nearby driveway just south of Austell Circle, police said.
