Marietta SWAT Standoff Leads To 2 Arrests
A woman was accused in a hit and run hours before her boyfriend was accused in a Franklin Gateway shooting.
MARIETTA, GA — Two people are in police custody after a hit and run and a shooting near a Franklin Gateway apartment complex around Sunday.
Marietta Police said officers responded around 11:45 p.m. to a domestic disturbance in the 870 block of Franklin. Witnesses who were inside of the apartment prior to police arrival told officers two men and a woman remained inside of the apartment.
SWAT was activated to the scene after the three people in the home refused to leave, police said. Hours after the unit's arrival, SWAT was able to get the group to exit the home.

The SWAT standoff was the third time officers had been called either to the apartment complex or in the area that night.
A woman involved in a hit and run around 8:30 p.m. told police that another vehicle had hit her car before driving to the apartment complex. The woman followed the vehicle, and when they stopped inside of the complex's entrance, the suspect left her vehicle and confronted the woman, police said.

After the people left the apartment where the SWAT standoff had taken place, Channel 2 Action News reported that is when police realized that one of the people "had been involved in a hit-and-run road rage assault."
Police were then called back to the area around 10 p.m. to a domestic disturbance in one of the apartments. The caller told dispatch "someone was intoxicated and screaming," police said.
When officers arrived, the suspect was gone, and the person who made the complaint was agitated and did not cooperate, police said. The person told officers to leave, police said.
"With no victim and no evidence of a crime, officers went back in service for other calls," police said in a news release.
Around 10:30 p.m., officers returned to the complex after someone complained that their front door had been forcibly opened someone else, police said. The caller did not cooperate when officers arrived, police said.
"Officers were able to speak with a family member who stated they would step in and help resolve the situation. With no suspect and the complainant not cooperating, officers went back in service for other calls," police said in the release.
Police said eventually the second caller complaining of their front door cooperated, and a man was charged in the case.
Two separate warrants charged Roland Cody Lopez, 23, on suspicion of first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal damage, terroristic threats, obstruction and reckless conduct, police said.
Amari Monique Perkins, 24, was charged on suspicion of hit and run and simple battery provoke in connection with the hit and run, police said.
Channel 2 reported both Perkins and Lopez were in a relationship.
Police said the pair was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
