Michael Vick's Brother Charged With Assaulting Police Officer

Marcus Vick has been arrested in Newport News, VA.

Marcus Vick, the 32-year-old brother of former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, was arrested on Sunday in Newport News, VA.

Police were serving an arrest warrant for Vick, a Marietta resident, on a contempt charge, according to NBC Sports. Vick allegedly pushed an officer during the arrest attempt and then fled. Police arrested him afterward and charged him with assault.

Marcus Vick also faces obstruction of justice charges, as well as destruction of property. .

Michael Vick was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2001 NFL draft, and was the first black quarterback ever taken with the top overall pick in league history. He pled guilty to federal dogfighting charges, was suspended by the NFL, and spent almost two years in prison. He has since played for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Like his brother, Marcus Vick also played college football at Virginia Tech, and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2006. He only appeared in one game in his NFL career.
