Missing Louisiana Couple Found Safe in Marietta

The elderly couple had planed to drive from Rome to Blue Ridge but ended up in Marietta instead.

A missing elderly couple from Louisiana that sparked a statewide Mattie’s Call has been found in Marietta, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Willie and Demetrius Billiot left Rome on Saturday and planned to drive to Blue Ridge. Somehow, the couple got lost and never made it to their intended destination, causing the launch of a statewide search for the couple, who are in failing health.

The couple’s car, a gold Kia Sorrento, was spotted by a citizen on Church Street in Marietta and reported to 911. A Marietta police officer just coming on duty heard about the vehicle on his radio and then spotted it. He performed a traffic stop on the couple, who had eaten and bought gas but had no idea where they were.

The Billiots were sent to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for further evaluation, but should be fine.
