Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. A 66-year-old Marietta man, Keith Moore, who had been missing since Aug. 2, was discovered deceased near Cobb Parkway North. Marietta Police confirmed that his family had reported him missing and his last known location was near Cobb Parkway and Field Park Circle. While there were no indications of foul play in his death according to the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office, the police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding his passing, with the exact cause and manner of death yet to be determined. 2. In case you missed it, the Cobb County Public Library is introducing a Books by Mail service to cater to residents facing physical mobility challenges due to disability, illness, or transportation constraints. Available to eligible Cobb library cardholders, the service offers up to four items, including books, books on CD, and DVDs, with a nine-week circulation period. This initiative aims to extend library access to homebound individuals, with items delivered through the US Postal Service, and it was made possible by $21,600 in funding from the county's American Rescue Plan Act allocation. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. The Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame (GMVHOF) conducted their ROTC Scholarship Certificate Presentation nearby at the Johns Creek's Newtown Park on Aug. 2. In front of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica, The Wall That Heals, two $4,000 scholarships were awarded to Joshua Acklen of Roswell and David Blackwell of Marietta. These scholarships, part of the GMVHOF ROTC Scholarship Program, aim to recognize accomplished ROTC cadets and foster future leaders for America, encouraging participation in high school JROTC programs and college ROTC programs with the intention of serving in the U.S. Military upon graduation.
