MARIETTA, GA -- Police are investigating a fatal accident in Acworth on Tuesday. The crash happened on Cobb Parkway at Bridgewater Drive around 9:50 pm. Police said a maroon 1994 Chevrolet Astro Van was southbound on Cobb Parkway when it left the right side of the road. The Chevrolet continued across a landscaped area in front of the Bridgewater subdivision and then struck a large tree.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 52-year-old Charles Crews of Cartersville, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Charles' mother, 79-year-old Majorie Crews of Cartersville, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and admitted for visible injuries.
