Popular Buckhead Publix Cashier Plans to Run Marathons in 50th State, Seventh Continent

A cashier at a Publix in Buckhead took some time off recently for a personal matter. That may not seem noteworthy, but Ronnie Frostig was away from his cashier lane to run a marathon in Cape Town, South Africa.

Frostig has run a marathon in 49 of the 50 states in the country, and six of seven continents on the planet, reports 11 Alive News. Frostig plans to complete both of those lists within the next few months; the 16-year veteran of Publix will participate in a marathon in New Mexico next month, then spend several months getting ready to run 26.2 miles in Antarctica in February of 2015.

Closer to home, Frostig is a popular employee at the Publix directly across from Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. He is praised as a hard worker by management, and is beloved by customers who sometimes wait longer in line to be served by him rather than see another cashier and be checked out faster.

Since his love of marathons began in Atlanta some 20 years ago, Frostig says that he has participated in more than 60 such events.
