Rapist Sentenced to Life in Prison for Mableton Attack

MARIETTA, GA — An Atlanta man was sentenced to life in prison for a May 2014 rape in Mableton.
Roderick Deandre Bell pleaded guilty to rape, kidnapping and aggravated assault, and admitted that late on the evening of May 17, 2014, he kidnapped a woman at gunpoint from MLK Boulevard in Atlanta, drove her to an industrial area off of Riverview Road in Mableton, got her out of the car and raped her. He then drove off.
Police collected forensic evidence and matched Bell's DNA in a database.

“Roderick Bell chose to prey on those he believed were easy targets,” Cobb ADA Courtney Veal said. “On Tuesday, the victim’s courage and willingness to come forward told the Defendant she would no longer be his victim and ensured that our community is protected from this dangerous predator.”
After accepting the plea, Cobb Superior Court Judge Reuben Green sentenced Bell to life, with 25 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation.
