Ribbon-Cutting Set For Baseball And Softball Field Improvements

After months of work, Marietta City Schools (MCS) is ready to unveil its newly improved baseball and softball fields at Marietta High School. The upgrades include revamped outfields fitted with new synthetic turf, an underground drainage system, replacement netting, and a new outfield wall to provide a top-notch playing experience.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 9, at 5 p.m. before the baseball season opener, where Marietta will take on Kennesaw Mountain.

“We are thrilled to bring these important improvements to our athletic fields,” said Chuck Gardner, MCS Chief Operations Officer. “The new turf will enhance safety for our student-athletes and will also elevate the overall aesthetic of the baseball and softball complex.”

The district invested more than $2 million, utilizing E-SPLOST dollars to fund the project. Work began in September of 2022 and completed just in time for the beginning of this year’s baseball season.

The Marietta baseball program has a rich history of success and accomplished players, and these upgrades will help to continue that tradition.

The community is invited to come celebrate at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and stay for the game to cheer on our Blue Devils as they take the new field for the first time.
