Rocco's Pub Offers More than Great Chili

Bands like The Merci Brothers play regularly at this house of chili, which offers live music most weekends.

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1. will always be best known for its world famous chili, but it also offers live music on the weekends through the warm weather on Rocco's Deck. The Merci Brothers is the house favorite and offers a variety of jazz, pop and rock favorites to keep chili lovers and the like happy.

2. The Local at Sidelines bills itself as Marietta's No. 1 music venue and it certainly is home to many genres of music. Thursday nights offer "Blues Jams." This week, the Cazanovas. Friday night brings an eclectic mix of cover tunes by some older guys that rock. They call themselves misconduct.

On Saturday, the Local features three bands bringing metal to the Marietta masses, each fronted by ladies that can bring it. These groups include Heather Williams, Haunting Eden and Tortus.

3. Marietta’s hosts its own Bluegrass Open Jam every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Check out its Web site at http://aussiejam.wordpress.com/ to see an interesting mix of characters and ages.

4. Thad Steven from Block Party hosts Karaoke Tuesdays at every week. For Friday and Saturday, Seven Sharp Nine, a three-piece local band brings its hard-driving originals to the venue. Sunday has 7 Sharp 9’s vocalist/guitarist Chris Wold playing on the Hemingway's patio from 2 to 6 p.m.
