Pick for schools chief is married to Atlanta radio personality: Report

MARIETTA, GA — After a nationwide search, the Marietta Board of Education stayed close to home in choosing its sole finalist to become the city school system's next superintendent.

The board announced Thursday that it has chosen Grant Rivera, the current chief of staff of the Cobb County School District, for the top position.

Rivera is the husband of Atlanta radio personality Jenn Hobby, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The board will not appoint Rivera as superintendent for at least another 14 days, during which it is required to make available to the public documents for inspection and/or copying concerning the finalist. As part of the hiring process, the board reviewed the results of a survey from the community and school system staff, sent out a recruitment brochure, and interviewed candidates.

Information on Rivera is available at the school system's Central Office and posted on its website at www.marietta-city.org.
