Smyrna Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting Marietta Man

A 48-year-old Marietta man died in the Lorene Drive shooting, according to an incident report obtained by Patch.

MARIETTA, GA — The 40-year-old Smyrna murder suspect accused in the Marietta killing of a man was identified Tuesday.

Cobb County Police accused Smyrna resident Bobby Lorenzo Pegues Jr. of shooting and killing Marietta resident Tavoris Danta Johnson, 48, according to arrest and incident reports obtained by Patch.

The fatal shooting took place around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Lorene Drive in Marietta, according to the incident report. A motive in the shooting is unknown.

When officers arrived, the report said they saw Johnson suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Foul play was suspected in Johnson's death, the report said.

Pegues was charged on suspicion of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the shooting, according to the arrest report.

He is being held in the Cobb County Jail without bond, jail records showed Tuesday.
