Suspect Charged In Connection With Fatal Shooting Of Marietta Man

Marietta Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a Marietta man in early October.

MARIETTA, GA – Marietta Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a Marietta man in early October.

On Oct. 3, Marietta police responded to 276 McIntosh Avenue for a report that a man had been shot. When police arrived, they found Willian Huggins, 42 of Marietta, on the ground suffering from two apparent gunshot wounds, according to a release on the police department's Facebook page.

Huggins was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries, police said. He did not regain consciousness and died on Oct. 15.

Through anonymous tips, police identified the suspect as Dameon "Worm" Coney, 36, as the suspect.

On Nov. 5 police located Coney and charged him with homicide, possession of a firearm during a crime, and aggravated assault. He was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center where is being held without bond.
