Suspect Who Shot State Trooper is Dead
Acworth's Israel Rodriguez led police on a chase that resulted in a state trooper being shot and a massive traffic jam afterward.

MARIETTA, GA -- The man who shot a Georgia State trooper on Wednesday afternoon after a 10-mile police chase in Cobb County is dead.
Israel Vladimir Rodriguez, 26, of Acworth, died after being shot multiple times after the chase, reports WTVM.
The incident began when Trooper Jacob Fields, a three-year veteran, attempted to pull over Rodriguez for speeding at I-75 southbound and Chastain Road, according to WSB-TV. Rodriguez sped off, resulting in a chase that went on for about 10 miles.

Other troopers got involved in the chase. Policer say Rodriguez then rear-ended a car at I-75 and Delk Road, then got out of his vehicle and exchanged fire with state and Cobb police.
Fields was struck in the abdomen and arm.

Fields was taken to Kennestone Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Traffic was snarled for several hours on I-75 southbound at Delk Road after the chase ended while police completed their investigation.
