GA High School Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With Student, Faces Sexual Assault Charges

COBB COUNTY, GA — A teacher at a high school in the Cobb County School District is accused of having sex with a student in his office, according to Cobb County police arrest warrants.

Zachary Warren White, 29, of Marietta — a graphics arts teacher at Osborne High School — was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of sexual assault by a teacher, jail records show.

White "had intercourse with the student in his school office" sometime between Oct. 4 and Oct. 25, according to his arrest warrant obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Osborne Principal Joshua Morreale posted a letter to families on the school district's website addressing the charges.

"Recently, the school learned of allegations of misconduct involving a current Osborne teacher and a current student. Cobb County police officers have investigated, visited campus, and arrested the teacher. An official warrant has been filed and we do not have any further details about the situation.

"The safety and wellbeing of our students continues to be the most important thing to me as your principal. We are cooperating fully with the Cobb County police, are conducting a thorough internal investigation, and have no reason to believe these allegations threaten any other Osborne students. Effective immediately, the teacher will not be allowed on campus as the investigation continues.

"Due to legal reasons, including student privacy, we are unable to share more except that our administration remains committed to the safety of all our students."

White is the second Cobb County teacher to be accused of inappropriate actions with a student in the last week. A day before his arrest, a teacher at The Walker School, a private school in Marietta, was arrested and charged with distributing obscene material to a minor.

White was booked into the Cobb County jail Thursday, where he remains without bond, according to jail records.
