Mo’ Motown will hit The Strand stage starting with a patriotic opening night on July 4 and continuing through the weekend. Barry Gordy’s Motown record label completely changed the sound of music, giving Americans everything they wanted in music: from anguish and romance to joy and dance. Mo’ Motown is a musical revue that tells the story of the origins of Motown Records through high energy performances featuring the best music of the era.

“We wanted to save what our audiences loved about last year’s show while adding in classics and new cuts of music from Motown greats such as Gladys Knight and Smokey Robinson. Anticipate seeing some familiar faces in this year's Mo’ Motown show as well some exciting new talent," Assistant Director Catherine Rhodes said in a news release.

Last year’s Fourth of July weekend, The Strand brought Motown’s most memorable hits to the Marietta Square, selling out every performance of A Salute to Motown. Patrons enjoyed some of the best music in American history with numbers showcasing songs from Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, The Temptations and other Motown favorites.

The show will be directed by Earl Reece, with Assistant Director Catherine Rhodes, Musical Director Michael Zauchin, and Choreographer Allison Michalke.

Mo’ Motown will take place at The Strand Theatre on July 4 at 7 p.m., July 5 through 7 at 8 p.m. and July 8 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and assigned seating. The Strand is offering a special Fourth of July bundle—$30 for a combination ticket to Mo’ Motown and a view of the Marietta City fireworks from The Strand rooftop terrace and bar

The historic Earl Smith Strand Theatre is a multi-use performing arts and events facility. The theatre is governed by the Friends of The Strand, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and depends on the financial support of private and corporate donors. It is The Strand's mission to serve the community with cultural entertainment for a diverse audience and to promote economic health in the City of Marietta and Cobb County.
