MABLETON, GA — A tornado tore through Mableton on Wednesday, one of three twisters that touched down in the metro Atlanta region and damaged homes and businesses, according to media reports.

The tornados struck Paulding, Carroll and DeKalb-Fulton counties, and the National Weather Service confirmed that one of them caused heavy damage in Mableton, according to media reports. The EF-1 tornado in Mableton knocked out stoplights and tore the roof off of a building, knocking out power to the area.

There were no reports of injuries caused by the tornados and thunderstorms that moved through the region on Wednesday afternoon, but they knocked down numerous trees and power lines. The National Weather Service says the three twisters were tracked on radar, but they must be confirmed by site surveys.
