Traton Homes Unveils First Model Home at Windmill Park
Marietta-based Traton Homes is developing its first Active Lifestyle Community in Carrollton, Ga. -- Windmill Park at Brown's Farm

Marietta-based Traton Homes, one of metro Atlanta’s oldest and most innovative homebuilding companies, has unveiled a beautiful new model home at the company’s first Active Lifestyle Community, Windmill Park at Brown’s Farm, in Carrollton, Ga. The Portico D model is a stunning low-maintenance home designed for today’s casual lifestyle, with an open floorplan that makes efficient use of space and channels natural light throughout the home. Special features of the ranch-style home include a master suite on the main floor, conveniently-located laundry room, generous storage space and the added versatility of a second floor walk-up bonus retreat with living area, study, bedroom and full bath. Outdoors, residents will enjoy a private courtyard for dining and seating, accented by a rippling fountain. The model home is located just off Highway 27 at 138 Cottage Hill Road in Carrollton and is open for viewing. www.tratonhomes.com/communities/windmill-park
“Traton Homes has built a solid reputation by designing and building beautiful, high-quality homes throughout the greater Atlanta area for nearly 50 years strong,” said Kimberly Garwood, director of marketing for Traton Homes. “We are thrilled to open our first model home at Windmill Park at Brown’s Farm, bringing a much-needed lifestyle rich opportunity to the Carrollton area. The Portico D model offers an outstanding value with prices starting in the mid $200s. The gourmet kitchen features white linen cabinetry, striking quartz countertops, large island with espresso cabinet, white mosaic tile backsplash and a farmhouse sink. The kitchen is open to the family room with a brick fireplace and cedar beam mantle flanked by built-in cabinetry. The spacious, elegant master suite includes a sitting room and large, luxurious bath.”
The Brown’s Farm property’s heritage harkens back to a young man’s dream. Jim Brown developed a liking for the Carroll County property when he passed by it and thought to himself, “Someday I’m going to own this land.” He purchased the property during the Depression in the early 1920’s. His son, Herman, began a dairy business and erected the windmill to provide running water for the farm. During WWII, the farm transitioned from a dairy to a florist and greenhouse business, and the windmill, which still stands tall today, became a landmark for people traveling along Hwy. 27.
