A father and daughter are lucky to be alive after they were grazed by an oncoming train they did not see coming.

A father and his daughter are counting their blessings after a near-miss with an oncoming train near Marietta Square on Monday night, WSB-TV reports.

The station, quoting authorities, says the pair were waving at a passing train at approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday and did not see another train coming in the opposite direction from another track. The second train grazed the pair, injuring them both.

The daughter was treated at the scene, while the father requires hospitalization. He was conscious when he was transported, authorities said.
