Veterans Day in Cobb County: Parade, Ceremony And Lunch

The cities of Marietta, Smyrna and Kennesaw will celebrate Veterans Day with special events.

MARIETTA, GA — The city and the Kiwanis Club of Marietta will honor all veterans on Saturday at the 13th Annual Veterans Day Parade. The parade will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the Roswell Street Baptist Church and march up towards Marietta Square and back down Lawrence Street with the intention of being on the square by 11:11 a.m. The event will culminate with a Veterans Day ceremony at noon in Marietta Square.

A Veterans Day ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the 20th Century Veterans Memorial in Smyrna, at 2800 King St. between City Hall and the Smyrna Public Library.

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Steven Arnold and retired U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Robert P. Wright will be the guest speakers. The Whitfield Academy Concert Band will provide music for the ceremony, and Campbell High School JROTC cadets will present the colors. The ceremony on Saturday morning is organized and managed by the Smyrna Veterans Committee; the Veterans Memorial Association of Smyrna, Ga. Inc.; American Legion Post 160; the City of Smyrna (through the Parks & Recreation Department); the Smyrna Rotary Club; Chick-fil-A; and JWC Real Estate.

Kennesaw Vets To Be Honored Friday At Free Lunch

The City of Kennesaw will honor the service of military members past and present with a complimentary lunch from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive. All veterans and active duty military are invited to attend. No identification will be required.

North Cobb American Legion Post 304 is partnering with Kennesaw city officials and staff to host the lunch. Additional sponsors include California Dreaming Restaurant and Bar, the Run for Wounded Heroes 5K, Autobell Car Wash, Big Frog Custom T-Shirts of Marietta and Thrasher Coffee Co.
