1 Shot, Several Detained In Marietta Walmart Shooting: Police

Police said there is no active shooter or current threat to the public.

MARIETTA, GA — Cobb County Police said several people have been detained Wednesday in connection with a shooting outside of a Walmart automotive center.

One person was shot and taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after the shooting involving two separate groups at the Chastain Meadows Parkway store, police said.

It is unknown whether or not the person who was shot was involved in the shooting.

The people detained are being questioned, police said.

The initial call dispatched to police said there was an active shooter, but police reported no active shooter and no current threat to the public.

Police said they are not sure about any possible deaths related to the shooting.

After the shooting occurred, people were seen running out of the store, police confirmed. Possible injuries after the shooting are unknown, police said.

The case is still being investigated.
