Wheeler High School Nominated for STEM Education Awards

The East Cobb high school has been recognized for its commitment to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.

Three Cobb County schools, including an East Cobb high school, have been named finalists in the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and and TAG Education Collaborative’s 2014 STEM Education Awards, the groups announced Monday.

Wheeler High School, Mableton Elementary School, and South Cobb High School were nominated due to their strong commitment to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education in all phases of life, said a TAG press release. Schools in eight categories ranging from elementary schools to corporate outreach programs were named finalists for the award.

“It is exciting to see the progress we are making with STEM education in Georgia. The increase in nominations each year and the quality of the nominations made it difficult for our judges,” said Michael Robertson, Executive Director of TAG Education Collaborative in the press release. “Engaging our students in STEM will benefit them for years to come with challenging and exciting careers.”
