Woman Hit And Killed By Marietta Driver On Christmas
A Marietta woman walking on Christmas was hit by a car and later pronounced dead at the hospital, say Cobb County police.
MARIETTA, GA – A Marietta woman was struck by a vehicle Christmas evening while walking east across South Cobb Drive from the western sidewalk, south of Booth Road, according to Cobb County Police. Denise Evans, 49, was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the black 2005 Suburban was identified as 32-year-old Marcus Gamel of Marietta. Gamel was not injured.
Police said that Gamel was driving south on South Cobb Drive, south of Booth Road, in the left southbound lane when the pedestrian entered the Suburban’s path of travel. The front of the Suburban struck the pedestrian at 6:43 p.m. Next of kin has been notified.
