• County to fund 5% increase in animal shelter budget (metteradvertiser.com) — Metter’s animal shelter budget is rising again this year, but Candler County commissioners are sticking to a 5% annual increase cap, leaving the City of Metter to cover about $24,000 more than the usual 60% split. City Manager Scott Wood says Metter anticipated this and budgeted accordingly, while both governments continue cooperating on projects like recent access road improvements.
