Early Voting Has Begun in Georgia
Monday was the first day that Georgians could vote early and in person throughout the state for the Nov. 8 general election.

ATLANTA, GA β Early in-person voting in this year's presidential and statewide elections began Monday in Georgia.
Georgia voters have 21 days to vote early for this year's general election, set for Nov. 8, 2016. Each of Georgia's 159 counties has at least one polling location open for voters wishing to cast their ballots early.
Each county is also required to have a polling location open on Saturday, Oct. 29.

In the 2012 presidential election, nearly 2 million Georgians voted ahead of election day.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are locked in a tight contest for president, with their final debate set for this Wednesday, Oct. 19. A new CNN/ORC poll released Monday shows Trump and Clinton statistically tied in the battleground states of Nevada, North Carolina and Ohio.

Trump and Clinton were also tied in Georgia in a poll taken just before their first debate on Sept. 26.

In the only other statewide contest facing Georgia voters, U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson is facing a challenge from Democrat Jim Barksdale.
Last week, Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced that 74,425 Georgians took advantage of the stateβs online voter registration system to register to vote or update voter information to take part in the election.
Voters should verify their voting information in Georgiaβs Voter Registration System and, if necessary, update their record. The βMy Voter Pageβ is a great resource to check your voter status, update your personal record, and view individualized voting information to prepare for November.
Currently, there are over 6.5 million registered voters in the Peach State.
