King of North Street Skateboarding Competition to Shut Down North Ave.

Barefoot Gypsy and Lost N Found Youth are proud to announce King of North, a skateboarding competition and slide jam to take place in front of the Masquerade on Nov. 2, 2014, from 12 - 7p.m., in downtown Atlanta with proceeds benefiting local LGBT non-profit, Lost-N-Found Youth.
Skater registration is now open and will close Sunday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. The event is open to spectators for a small entrance fee of $5, and will host a variety food trucks ranging from King of Pops, to Toasted Cheese. WRAS DJs will provide tunes, and Masquerade will provide plenty of beer and spirits for a “Sunday Funday” you do not want to miss. The party continues inside the Masquerades’ hell section, with music from local favorites The Feelers, Hundred Watt Horse, The Breathers, and DogBite.

From the people who brought you Miss Edgewood Avenue, Liliana Bakhtiari, founder and president of Barefoot Gypsy, and friends are taking it to the street this time around—with over 300 skaters coming from all areas of the Southeast to take on the gargantuan hill that is North Ave. Categories include; free ride, longest slide, boarder cross race and more. Winners will receive prizes from skater brands; JatiBoards, Skanunu, and Riptide, just to name a few.
The events proceeds will go toward Lost-N-Found Youth, the only non-profit organization helping homeless queer youths off the street in Atlanta, as well as Barefoot Gypsy’s next project in partnership with the non-profit, a short film series shedding light on the lives of homeless queer youths in Atlanta.
