Suspect in Valet Parking Lot Thefts Bonds Out

A 17-year-old charged with two counts of theft by taking for his alleged role in the thefts of several vehicles from valet parking lots in Midtown and Buckhead made his first court appearance on Monday.

According to WSB-TV, Maricius D. Palmer was released from custody on bond but is now under a curfew, cannot possess weapons, and cannot come near one of the restaurants where the crimes took place,
Palmer and a juvenile accomplice allegedly stole four cars off of valet parking lots, WSB-TV said. Police told the station that the suspects would distract the employee watching over the lock box containing patrons’ keys, then break into the box and steal the keys and the accompanying car.

Two vehicles were stolen out of the valet lot at Midtown’s Ecco restaurant on Thursday night. Police also suspect the pair of stealing a Hyundai Sonata from Krog Street on Friday and driving the stolen car to the Horseradish Grill in Buckhead on Saturday, where two more cars were stolen.
11 Alive news reported on Sunday that a Mercedes stolen from Horseradish Grill was equipped with GPS tracking, which allowed police to locate four of the stolen vehicles in the 200 block of Richardson Street.
