Finding our Way

Watching our children as they searched for "treasure" reminded me of how wonderful it is for all our kids when they all learn the help each other succeed!

Thursday afternoon, after learning all about maps, six campers at The Bridge eagerly gathered for a treasure hunt. Small treasure chests had been hidden in the room and each child had a map to show them the way to their own personal treasure. Each child took a turn so we wouldn't have chaos with six children looking at once.

The look of intensity as each child studied their map of the room and followed the path drawn on it was priceless. When one child struggled, another child took them by the hand and walked along with them, helping them with landmarks so they could find their way. Each child, the one that required assistance and the one that assisted, returned to our little circle exhibiting a strong sense of pride in their accomplishment. Most of the campers held tightly to their little treasure chests, proud of the end result, but some held equally to their map, the plan that led them to success.

I was reminded of our mission at The Bridge, to build a plan or map, so to speak, that will help our students of all ages find their way to success. Each map a little different but each one will lead down a path best suited for that child. And because our goal is to serve children with all ability levels, in the end, we will see not just the individual student basking in the victories, but those who walked the journey with them, pointing out the landmarks as they reached each small goal. Exciting things are happening every day at The Bridge.

Exciting things always happen when people are given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential and be all they were made to be!
