• Obituary and funeral service: Janice Landress Gates, 59, of Social Circle (monroelocal.org) — Social Circle is mourning the passing of longtime resident Janice “Jan” Landress Gates, 59, who died peacefully on June 26. Family and friends can pay their respects today, July 2, from 1–3 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. funeral service at Tim Stewart Funeral Home’s Loganville Chapel. Her family asks that memorial donations go to the Walton County Humane Society or Wounded Warriors Foundation.
