Learn To Make A Fairy Garden

Judy Wright's "Sonflower" Garden Craft Classes At Hodge Podge Art, Antiques and Interiors Starting This Weekend.

Learn how to build a fairy garden and other garden craft ideas with Judy Wright at Hodge Podge Art, Antiques and Interiors this spring. Classes start this weekend and will run on various weekends through June. Fees cover supplies and you take your finished product home with you to add to your garden!

I love the idea that 'wee folk' or fairies might be frolicking in my garden, spreading magic and mischief, as they land on rose buds and other flower petals, only to spring back out, gossamer wings shimmering with sunlight in the soft spring air. While evidence that fairies exist is slim, I always have the hope a few are visiting my home.

Fairy gardens are very popular now as adults and children find making a fairy garden a way to participate in the centuries old tradition of trying to please the spirits! It is easy to make one with a bit of imagination. Fairy gardens are miniature gardens that give the appearance that small creatures live there. They are usually planted in a secluded location in the garden to give a magical feel when you see them. They can also be planted in containers.

There are many type of fairy gardens. Woodland gardens can be planted at the base of a tree and include tiny items that remind you of forest fairies. A door on the tree stump makes a perfect entrance for a woodland fairy.

When you think of a flower fairy garden, a small cottage surrounded by tiny blossoms comes to mind.

Just think about the type of fairy you want to visit your garden and build a suitable home for her.
