My Rant this week is actually borrowed from a friend of mine on Facebook and will probably make some people mad. Teachers have been complaining about the salaries that they receive, which I understand. They deal with kids week in and week out, teaching them things to help them excel. The average teacher salary ranges from $40,500 to $45,500 depending on what grade they teach, what specialty they teach and the amount of education received. That's pretty good if you ask me, not to mention they get two-three months off during the summer and vacation days during the year plus decent benefits.

First let me say that I understand the stress levels involved, the deadlines needing to be met, the testing scores and all of that stuff, my mom worked in the school system for 25 years. I realize that the grading of papers is generally done at home or on personal time, that you have to decorate your own classes and I am all for that changing, but the salary you receive to me seems fair. I work 40-45 hours a week with one week vacation and benefits that are extremely expensive for the same pay as teachers and I'm happy to do it.
Maybe I'm mis-informed. Maybe I'm reading the wrong data and maybe the data doesn't pertain to our area. Please help me understand and know that this rant is based off of what I see.
