For many children, being five years old means a time of carefree joy and adventure. For Brylie, that age has been a bit different. In the spring of 2014, the Lundys noticed a persistent bump on Brylie’s chest; it took persistence and months of appointments before Brylie was referred to Children’s and diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in the fall. The precious little girl has spent much of the last year at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, bonding with the therapy dogs, playing with clowns, and sharing her trials and triumphs with her friends in the Aflac Cancer Center.
This August, the Lundys expect to celebrate not only Brylie’s sixth birthday, but also the completion of her chemotherapy. To learn more about what this year has held for the family and what the future will bring, follow “Brylie’s Journey” on Facebook, and tune in to the WSB Care-a-Thon.
