SMALL TOWN NEWBORN CELEBRATES SMALL FISH WITH FESTIVAL Announces 2015 Hornyhead Fishing Tournament and Festival April 25th 8am - 4pm

Newborn, Ga
On April 25, Newborn (the Town With Characters) thinks the only thing better than being a big fish in a little pond is being a little fish in a little town! Hornyheads are small chubb fish found in the spring in the creeks all around Newton County, to the delight of small time fishers everywhere.
The tournament starts at 8 am, with signups in three age categories: Ages 3-10, 11 - 15 and adult. Winners will be judged on the size of the fish as well as the number of bumps or horns, on its head. The youngest entrants will receive a free official bamboo hornyhead fishing pole. Fish must be received at the judging desk by noon, with no more than 2 entries per person.

For those more interested in catching a bargain than a fish, approximately 30 vendors will set up shop on the lawn of the Old Newborn Schoolhouse from 8 am - 4 pm selling plant starts, baked goodies, crafts, oddities and bargains - even a real alpaca is coming to show off his lovely wool and products for sale! A kid’s hula-hoop contest starts at 11:30 am. Coffee and biscuits are available in the morning, lunch can be caught on site at the Where There’s Smoke BBQ stand starting at 11 am.
The Hornyhead Queen, Ms. Anna Davis, will be crowned at noon by Mayor Gregg Ellwanger. She was selected because she is the Valedictorian of her class at Eastside High this year (Newborn’s second such honor in three years!) Music will be provided before and after the ceremony by Johnny Roquemore (singing his county-famous hit The Hornyhead song) and the Maloy Brothers Band.
