NOW OPEN: Stripling's General Store in Watkinsville

The newest franchise on the corner of Hog Mountain Road and Monroe Highway opened its doors Monday morning.

If you've been anxiously awaiting the opening of Stripling's General Store in Oconee County, there's some exciting news: it's now open for business.

The newest franchise on the corner of Hog Mountain Road and Monroe Hwy opened its doors Monday morning and will be open until 8 p.m., according to a post on the store's Facebook Page.

Are you planning a trip to Stripling's General Store on opening day? Β

According to a story in the Americus Recorder, the new store is a partnership between Stripling's founders Ricky and Lisa Hardin and Jimmy and Andrea Camp of Monroe. Camp is a businessman and hog farmer and reportedly a "sausage connoiseur."

The Oconee County store is the fourth location. It reportedly has the look and feel much like the original Stripling's store on Highway 300 in Cordele - a store from the early 1900s. The 15,000 square foot store offers custom-cut meat market including items like Stripling’s Sausage and Beef Jerky. It also has specialty items such as jellies, jams, syrups, sauces, pickles and other grocery items.
