What's Wrong with Miley?

What is wrong with Miley Cyrus?  Why is she behaving the way she does?

Some people ask… where are her parents?  Well, I’ve seen her parents in plenty of photographs, cheering Miley on during her concerts.  If you can call it a concert.  It’s more like a twerking convention. 

A few years ago during the height of the Hannah Montana craze, I thought Miley was a good influence on our kids.  She seemed to have a good relationship with her parents, appeared to be happy and I believed her to be fairly spiritual, as she referred to “going to church” quite often in interviews.

Hannah died and a new Miley was born. 

I sense Miley is a very driven person with low self-esteem, craving any and all attention from anyone who will listen to her.  When the Hannah show went off of the air, I think she felt lost and decided to do whatever she had to do to reclaim her fame.

Enter the slutty behavior.  In the entertainment world filled with pretty girls, powerful singers and bigger than life drama actresses, Miley faded.  With a so-so singing voice, cute but boyish figure and limited acting abilities, the only thing left for Miley to get attention was the twerk.  Which morphed into more disturbing visual aids in raunchy music videos and award show appearances.

Now Miley just seems to be in her own world.  Her talent is not getting her the attention, her behavior is.  Instead of wowing the crowd with her singing or acting, she’s entertaining the weirdos and perverts with her “self-expression," as she puts it. 

I hope it’s a phase.  I hope she sees the light and goes in a new direction.  I think she has a real comedic talent and would be awesome in another tv sit-com. 

In the meantime, I’ll use Miley as an example to my daughter for how NOT to act.
