Bank Robbery Foiled By Slow-Moving Teller; Armed Suspect Sought

Suspect displayed handgun, according to Gwinnett County Police, but he eventually fled without the loot.

Investigators are hoping the public can help identify the suspect in an attempted bank robbery Monday morning in Norcross, according to Gwinnett County Police.

The suspect was described as a black male with a blue hooded sweatshirt. He was in his thirties and was between 5’11” to 6’01”, with a medium build.

At 10:17 a.m., police responded to the SunTrust Bank at 5950 Jimmy Carter Blvd. regarding a panic alarm activation.

“The tellers at the location reported that a male had just passed a note demanding money and then raised his shirt to display a handgun,” according to Cpl. Deon Washington, a GCPD spokesperson. “Due to the time that the teller was taking to open the drawer, the suspect fled the bank without receiving any money.”
