Head to one of these Oktoberfest celebrations this weekend (atlantaonthecheap.com) — Norcross residents can join in the Oktoberfest fun close to home this Saturday at Cultivation Brewery, with live music, games, and special beer offerings. The roundup also highlights free or low-cost celebrations at breweries and venues across metro Atlanta and the suburbs, running through October with family-friendly activities, contests, and seasonal food and drinks.
   

2. Meet the Gwinnett County teachers of the year for 2028 (thegeorgiasun.com) — Two Norcross schools are proudly represented in Gwinnett's newly announced 2028 local Teachers of the Year, with honorees at both Norcross Elementary and Norcross High. They're among more than 150 standout educators countywide who will compete for the district's top teaching honor, to be awarded at a January 2027 banquet and potentially advance to the state level.
   

3. Volleyball Recap: Duluth Can't Get Past Grayson Again (maxpreps.com) — Norcross volleyball fans will want to circle Saturday at 9 a.m., when Grayson comes to town after sweeping Duluth 2-0 on Thursday. Grayson is on a hot streak, winning nine of its last ten, while Duluth has now dropped four straight and next faces Berkmar. Expect a tough test for Norcross but a great chance to see top local competition.
   

4. 17-year-old charged in deadly wrong-way crash after police chase (wsbtv.com) — A 17-year-old driver from Norcross is facing a homicide by vehicle charge and eight misdemeanors after police say he fled Lawrenceville officers and caused a wrong-way crash on Highway 316 that killed another driver. Gwinnett County police are investigating the chase and crash details, while the teen remains jailed without bond on the felony charge.
