Facebook Opens In Midtown, Making North Druid Hills an Attractive Place to Live
In a continuing a trend for tech companies, Facebook opens office in midtown area, making the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area more attractive.

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, social networking site Facebook is expanding to Atlanta. The company is opening a sales office for ad space on their website in Northwest Atlanta, according to a building permit filed with the City of Atlanta. The office will employ about 25. Facebook has employees in Atlanta. The company, on its website, referred to its Atlanta location as "one of the fastest growing offices in the East Region." The new office is located at Marietta and Howell Mill.
We could see why Facebook, along with others would a presence in metro Atlanta- we have Coca-Cola, UPS, The Home Depot, Delta, Waffle House, Porsche, as well as others based here. When the decision makers are here, sales teams follow. This is good news for residential home sales in our area. I have seen numerous execs transferred to Atlanta recently, but they all have been moving outside the perimeter. Chick-fil-A and Delta in the South. UPS, and Home Depot in the North. While I would recommend our area to anyone, most want to live closer to the area they work, especially if it is less expensive with good schools. Peachtree City and the East Cobb/North Fulton areas do well with those companies.
Facebook moving into Midtown is a great sign that business may be moving centrally where the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area is an attractive place to live. Recruiting for tech companies such as Facebook and Google (also a large presence here) love Georgia Tech. It is home of some of the finest computer minds, right down the street. Easy access to the north and south side. With technology increasingly integrated into how we live, we should see more to come.
