Stolen Boston Terrier Returns Home

A DeKalb family’s beloved blind 11-year-old Boston terrier, Boomer, is home after he was taken during a break-in and robbery on Friday.

According to DeKalb County police, the home of Ashley Curlette, located at 2154 Brownings Trace in Tucker, was broken into Friday when the family was away.

Curlette said someone dropped Boomer off at a Decatur home. That family contacted Curlette and the elderly pet was reunited with his family Monday night, reports WSB TV.

“My granddaughter who’s two keeps going around saying, ‘Boomer. Where’s Boomer?’” Kelly Marriott, the mother of Boomer’s owner, told Patch in a phone interview Saturday.

“He’s been with us since he was a puppy,” Marriott said. “He’s not a valuable dog. I can see if he was worth something, but he’s not. Not to anyone but us.”

Boomer’s owners were worried he wouldn’t survive the adventure because he is blind, deaf and has cataracts, making his eyes blue.

The thieves swiped Boomer, along with his crate and blanket, Marriott said.

The thieves also took thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from Curlette’s home, the TV station says.

“My daughter and my two-year-old granddaughter are heartbroken. The dog is a beloved family member, and we would love to have him back,” Marriott said Saturday.
