Norcross PD said officers were flagged down by a man cutting the grass at the home, alerting them that he smelled a β€œstrong of something deceased” coming from the house. The man, identified as the brother of the homeowner in media reports, told police the house was rented by a Vietnamese woman who had not been seen in weeks, police said.

β€œOfficers also smelled the odor and, after being unable to get anyone to the door, forced entry into the home,” Norcross PD said in a Monday statement. β€œOfficers found 2 people, deceased, in what appeared to be at least several days, if not weeks, of decomposition.”

The GBI and Norcross PD have been investigating the incident.

More information will be released after the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner has completed the autopsies.
